Support for Foreign Residents at Gifu Media Cosmos

community

I visited Gifu Media Cosmos and found a consultation counter for foreign residents.

You can visit without a reservation and get support for daily life in Japan. Many people come here for help with city procedures and general questions.

Language support is available depending on the day:
English and Tagalog: Every day
Portuguese: Monday and Thursday
Chinese: Tuesday and Wednesday
Vietnamese: Sunday
Nepali: Friday

There are also many multilingual pamphlets available at the counter, including information about daily life, garbage rules, and services in Gifu.

When I visited, there were around 10–20 people using computers, and the atmosphere felt open and easy to approach. Some staff members also appeared to be from different countries.

Japanese language classes are available in several formats. Some are free, such as casual conversation groups and classes for children. There are also low-cost options (around 150 yen per lesson or about 2,000 yen for 10 lessons), as well as more structured courses (around 17,000 yen for 30 lessons).

It is also open on Sundays, so you don’t need to visit on a weekday.

If you need help or information about living in Japan, this is a useful place to visit.
